Archery System
By Lee``

While Dueling is Free Formed out, Archery is hardly possible to be RPed out. So myself and Lee have developed a system, based off of the earlier system for Archery

In the Tournament Archery Battle there are four targets, each with modifiers.

Targets

Short Range Target: +3 (This Target is rather close, like at 20 feet)
Medium Range Target: 0 (Around 40 feet)
Long Range Target: -3 (80 feet away)
Trick Shot: -6 (At 80 feet, also it rotates around with two sides. One side with the target, the other with no painted target.)

Skill Level

A character's skill level, in this case, is with the official weapon of the Archery Tournament..a Composite Longbow and it ranges from 0 to 10. To get to a 10 would require decades upon decades of training and use.

The Roll

What you roll depends entirely on your skill level, however the roll would be.

<Roll>+(Skill Level +/- Range Mod)

You would roll the proper die for your skill level. If you were a 2, then a 1d10. A 10? Then a 1d40. The result of the die indicates where your target hits, and it's point value

Skill modifier: 0-2

1d10:
-0: Fumble.
1-3: Miss
4-5: Edge of Target

The Target

The Target is a circular object made of hay with a cloth draped over it and a series of circles painted. In your result/hit, you will have the following possible results

Spectacular Hit: This hit amazes the crowd, and causes damage to the target. Usually by blasting a hole into it, or embedding the arrow pretty deep. If a person has done a bullseye here, then the arrow splits the old arrow in two. Cause this amazes the crowd, it earns 7 points with the judges.
Bullseye: As it sounds. Worth 5 points to the judges.
Outer Ring of Bullseye: Arrow hits the small circle just around the bullseye. Worth 4 points.
Inner Ring: This ring is around the middle of the target. Worth 3 points
Outer Ring of Target: The last circle/ring around the target. Worth 2 points
Edge of Target: Doesn't hit a circle, but hits along the sheer edge of the target. Close, but does gain some favor with the judges. However just 1 point.
Miss: The arrow misses the target completely. No points value
Fumble: Something bad happens, either the arrow flops over and lands at a person's feet, or the string breaks. This is so bad, it causes a 2 point deduction.

The Match

In the Standard Tournament match, people fire at two short range targets, one medium range, one long range and one trick shot target. One shot per target/round and final tally is points value of competitor #1 vs competitor #2

Points

The total of points are added up, however in the Trick Shot point values are doubled.

Payoff

This special rule only applies for the Grand Tournament. Whatever the point difference is by the winner, they will receive 3 electrum per point. If a final score was 20 to 15, thats a 5 point difference. Winner will get 15 electrum or 150 silver.

OOC Note - Skill Level

Anyone signing up for Archery has to speak to Zarak to determine their skill level. That level is assigned/stuck to the character for that and all other official Archery Events
