Description and Notes
Fleet Data: The first major refit to the Defender class saw the use of major improvements, and the first use of several systems now regarded as basic such as the pulse cannons, the bridge, and teleporters. This refit, and the 693 refit to come, were the more famous of the Damocles airships and the first D.I.S. Victory was of this particular line of ship. This ship is considered the first true airship, with the Eagle, Pigeon and first Defender being considered mere stepping stones to this point. In this refit, the frame was also extended by 15 feet in length, 5 feet in beam and an additional deck was added on. This was to allow the Defender class to accommodate current and future technologies.

The Defender class Explorer was given a wide range of missions from exploration to combat and to patrols. In it's long period, over 800 of these types of airships were built, several either lost in the line of duty, sold to other nations, retired/upgraded or scrapped for materials.
